Easy onion bhajis


  • 45g gram (chickpea) flour
  • 45ml water
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 handful of fresh corriander, chopped
  • 1/2 a fresh chilli, chopped
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil


  1. In a bowl, mix together the gram flour, water, cumin, turmeric and salt
  2. Add the corriander, chilli and onion and stir until combined
  3. Heat the oil in a pan and place a spoonful of the mixture in the pan. You should end up with approximately 5 bhajis
  4. Allow to fry on each side for 5 minutes then remove and place on some kitchen roll to drain off the excess oil
